Front Rank - Sedgemoor Figs

Some time ago, when Front Rank brought out their new late 17th Century range, I bought quite alot of their stuff with a view to doing the Sedgemoor campaign again!! I thought I'd demo a few to see how I planned to paint them.

I, once again, decided to use the 'brown undercoat/oil wash'  method I've used on all my ECW stuff.

Below are some examples of the artillery figures done up as the King's artillery train with helping hands from Dumbarton's regiment and recruited civilians/matrosses to do the carrying, lifting and pulling!!

Early days to be thinking about basing etc. Just thought I'd try a few to get in the swing. Unfortunately I keep getting that 'Otterburn' twinge and feel it won't be long before I drift that way again. Who knows!!?

ECW Green Coat Regiment

This is a Royalist Green Coat Regiment which could be any green coat regiment really.

Not much to say about this other than I was using (mainly) one of many Renegade Miniatures regiments I had bought quite a while ago when the figures worked out at about 49p each. The Officer pointing, drummer and odd other figure are from the Bicorne range.

The green coat is a Miniature Paints Dark Green and/or Vallejo Flat Green highlighted with Vallejo Olive Green.

Next up some Front Rank Sedgemoor figures I've been trying out - I just love anthing Sedgemoor!!

Andrew Potley's Yellow Coats

Some pics of a Parliamentarian yellow coat regiment. Could be any yellow coat regiment but I've done this one as Sir Andrew Potley's as at the battle of Cropredy Bridge 1644.

Figs by Renegade and Bicorne. Flag hand painted.

I was beginning to be owerwhelmed by the choices of what to paint due to the vast array of castings I have and the interest in the various periods which was exciting me (Sedgemoor, ECW, Dark Ages, and more recently the Otterburn campaign 1388.) I decided to just choose the figs, paint them (and enjoy painting them) and not stick to any rigid plans. That was my plan last year and it seemed to work - so I'm going to repeat that this year.

All being well I should have a good mix of periods to post during the year and some more tutorials on how I do the painting - though I feel I've oulined the main principles of my methods and the rest is just a case of sitting down and doing it.

A final note. Thanks for all your interest in the figs I am selling - the response has been fantastic.
